MAASTRICHT 2022

After joining the HYROX event in Amsterdam. I wanted to join the event in Maastricht. This time I would Run with my best friend Iris. I would have more time to train and I now knew what I could expect. I was ready to make it work!


For my birthday i got runningshoes and I also got a sandbag. I was ready to train! Maastricht would have been on the 5th of february but due to covidpandamic it was moved to a later date. On the 5th I did my own hyrox at home. It was a bit of improvising. But is was fun to do.


Somewhere near the end of february there was a PFT in a gym in my town. I went there and the members of the gym made me feel right at home. And after the PFT i decited to join the gym. For a trial period, but i decited to stay. Here I could train for HYROX in the right way. And at the same time work on my strenght and speed. Training at home is possible but it Felt better to be able to workout in the gym and also get the right coaching.


Unfortunately I got an injury at my achillesheel and the month prior to HYROX I had to stop runnig and redesign my training. But i wanted to compete in Maastricht so I did the best I could not to overtrain.


Then on march 26th it was HYROX day!

Keep going, and keep smiling.

I was there and hoped I could finish in sub 2. The start was great. I had the best coach with me. My best friend who also knows a lot about running. So she helpt me to stay in the right pace and monitor my BPM. e decited that we would split up the workouts. She would do more burpees and the strenght part was more for me. This event was harder because I did more of the workouts and the event venue was hotter. But I kept going.


I almost had a collision while running because a pro with cameraman was speeding down the slow lane. That was scarry but it didn't stop me. During the race I got more and more tired and I noticed my injury started bothering me more and more. I couldn't even do the lunges, so my buddy had to do all of them. We finished in 02:04:14. Not bad, and a new PR by 10min. But still a felt a little dissapointed at first.


After it sank in that i did it agian, and comparing my times with last time. I concluded that I had nothing to feel dissappointed about. And that i just had to be proud. It was a major improvement and I did so much more now compared to my first event. I knew with training I would be able to do HYROX doubles in Amsterdam within the 2h time limit I gave myself....

But that was before I knew I would make that a different race.
